Lester Roloff
John Rice, Lester Roloff, Repentance, and Sloppy Soul Winning
Enlarged September 2, 2026 (first published July 30, 2015 under the title “John Rice, Lester Roloff Preached Repentance from Sin”)
In the 1980s, Jack Hyles and Curtis Hutson changed the historic Baptist definition of repentance. I suspect that the motive was to justify the cheap, numbers-oriented soul winning methodology that was popular in that day. This was the methodology that was foundational to Big-ism with its emphasis on “the largest ... the fastest growing... the greatest.”
I call the numbers-oriented soul winning methodology “Quick Prayerism,” because it is quick to.. see full report
Two Americas: The Old and the New
 September 1, 2026
I love America. Even with America in steep decline, I believe it is the greatest nation on God’s green earth, as one radio personality likes to say. As long as I can remember, I have been thankful to God for America and glad to be an American citizen. Spending a large portion of my life overseas has given me a different perspective of America than most of its citizens, but I know America. I have traveled its length and breadth, from sea to shining sea. I’ve lived in many states (Florida, Tennessee, Missouri, Louisiana, Washington, Oklahoma) and visited every state, most of them multiple times. I’ve seen the purple mountain majesties, the fruited plain, the sun rising over the Atlantic and setting over the Pacific. Forgetting for a moment America’s vast interior, with its mountains, canyons, plains, plateaus, deserts, gigantic lakes, rivers, waterfalls, wetlands, and rain forests, America has 84,000 miles of ocean coastline. I’ve seen all of the the coastlines in the mainland, from Miami.. see full report
Dolly Parton and Her New Age Christ
 August 31, 2026
Dolly Parton died on August 25, 2026, at age 80.
We received the following discerning communication on that occasion:
“I am in awe as to the number of church folks that are in full remorse over the death of country music star (Queen of Country Music) Dolly Parton. Church folks my age have a short memory of her support for the LGBT community and how much they support her, which says it all. It’s the older folks that are supposed to be the pillars of the church and warn of worldly music, but they fall in step with one of country music’s most ardent supporters of the LGBTQ community.”
The following is from an upcoming new edition of
The Directory of Contemporary Worship Musicians, which is available as a free eBook at the Books section of www.wayoflife.org.
 Since Dolly Parton (1946-2026)..

THE NEW AMERICA COULD NOT BUILD THE OLD AMERICA (Friday Church News Notes, August 28, 2026, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - There are two Americas today, the old America, endowed by the Creator with certain unalienable Rights, among which are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness, and the new America of socialism, cultural Marxism, the new morality, the cancel culture, pro-abortion, pro-homosexuality, pro-transsexualism, pro-corruption of children, and.. see full report
Luther, Hitler, and the Jews
 August 27, 2026
The following is excerpted from Ed Gaskin, “Martin Luther, the Reformation, and Christian Antisemitism,” The Times of Israel, nd:
Note: Gaskin claims that it is a myth that the Jews killed Jesus. In fact, the Jewish leaders led the campaign to kill Jesus and they manipulated the Roman governor Pontius Pilate to have him executed even though Pilate said Jesus was innocent. The truth is that Jesus was killed by the Jews, by the Roman government, and by every sinner who has ever lived, for He suffered and died as a sacrificial offering to God for man’s sin.. see full report
Corinthian Epistles
The Resurrection Body
 August 26, 2026 (first published August 31, 2020
The following is excerpted from the Way of Life Commentary Series, The Corinthian Epistles, www.wayoflife.org -
The bodily resurrection is a teaching that is unique to the Christian faith. While Islam has an ill-defined doctrine of resurrection, most pagan religions do not believe in it. Hindus, Buddhists, New Agers, Animists, Wiccans, and many others believe in reincarnation or the transmigration of the soul.
1 Corinthians 15 is the clearest teaching in the Bible on the nature of the bodily resurrection and is therefore one of the most amazing and precious chapters in the Scripture. These are.. see full report
Evangelicals Questioning Hell
 August 25, 20267 (first published November 14, 2000)
“There is no mystery about this matter, because God has spoken.”
Those who call themselves “evangelical” (a term that has become almost meaningless) are increasingly questioning and modifying the biblical doctrine of an eternal, fiery hell,. A fundamental element in the neo-evangelicalism founded in the 1950s by men such as Harold Ockenga and Billy Graham was the “repudiation of separatism.” This was actually a repudiation of Bible Christianity, which demands separation (e.g., Romans 16:17; 1 Corinthians 15:33; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18; Ephesians 5:11; Colossians 2:8; 2 Timothy 2:16-18; 3:5; 2 John 1:8-11). It is no surprise.. see full report

ISRAEL MISTAKENLY EXPECTS CLEANSING FROM A RED HEIFER (Friday Church News Notes, August 21, 2026, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - Orthodox Jews in Israel are trying to raise a red heifer that can be used for ritual cleansing according to Numbers 19. A third heifer was born the first week of August in Shiloh, Israel. Under the law of Moses, the heifer was to be slain outside the camp, its blood sprinkled before the tabernacle seven times, and it was to be burned together with cedar wood, hyssop, and.. see full report
Christ’s Resurrection: The Testimony of Lawyers

Following are the testimonies of lawyers and judges in regard to the evidence of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is excerpted from An Unshakeable Faith: A Christian Apologetics Course, www.wayoflife.org:
Hugo Grotius (1583-1645) was a noted Dutch “jurist and scholar whose works are of fundamental importance in international law,” according to the Encyclopedia Britannica. He wrote Latin elegies at the age of eight and entered Leiden University at eleven. Considered “the father of international law,” he wrote The Truth of the Christian Religion (1627) in which he legally defended the historical fact of the Resurrection (cited from “The Evidence for the Resurrection of Jesus Christ - Part 2,” John Ankerberg Show, jashow.ca).
Thomas Sherlock (1678-1761) wasn’t a lawyer but he was trained in law. He was a Cambridge-educated theologian.. see full report
Form Criticism Creeping Into Fundamentalism
 August 19, 2026
The following is excerpted from The Doctrine Which Ye Have Learned, 503 pages, available from the Books or the Courses section of wayoflife.org.
Form criticism or redaction criticism are modernistic theories about the formation of the Gospels.
Major Principles of Form Criticism

The Gospel writers used a common oral tradition that was circulated among the Christians for some time before anything was written down. Textual critics Alford (1849) and Westcott (1860) promoted this view.
The Gospel writers used other sources. One supposed source is the “Q” document. Though no such document exists, many false teachers believe this mythical writing was the source of some or all of..
