The following is by Brian Snider, Huntsville, Alabama -
Alabama has had football fever ever since winning the Rose Bowl in 1926 which proved that southerners could compete with northern elites. In the last 100 years, though, football mania has gone far beyond competition to include many of the elements of the world’s most powerful seductions.
I grew up in Birmingham, Alabama during Coach Bear Bryant’s heyday, from the 1960s through the 1980s and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1983, the year Bryant died. My time at Alabama gave me freedom to live in sin and revelry and I regret the wickedness I pursed and the way I misused my parent’s hard-earned money. I got saved.. see full report

The following is excerpted from the book Transforming Congregational Singing for the 21st Century, https://www.wayoflife.org/bc/course.php
Following are some suggestions for choosing a church hymnal.
It is difficult to know how long hymnals will continue to be published, since they aren’t compatible with contemporary worship. I would guess that the market for hymnals has decreased significantly in the past 10 years.
It is essential to use hymnals with wisdom and spiritual discernment. Every song.. see full report
The free eBook The Life Story and Songs of Charles F. Weigle contains 22 little known hymns, with lyrics and full music scores. See the Books section of www.wayoflife.org.
Dr. Weigle was a Baptist evangelist and noted hymn writer of more than 1,000 hymns. He entered heaven's gates December 3, 1966 at age 95, from Chattanooga, Tennessee.
After he was called to be an evangelist, his wife came to him one day and said, “I’m leaving, Charlie. I don’t want to live the life you are living. I want to go the other way--to the bright lights.” Their only child, a daughter, left with her. That very night Charles saw them off on a train to the other side of the country. Five years passed before he wrote another song, but God.. see full report

THE FALL OF NEW YORK CITY (Friday Church News Notes, November 14, 2025, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - The following is excerpted from Daniel Greenfield, Frontpage Magazine, Nov. 6, 2025: “How did an Islamist socialist who posed with an unindicted terror bombing coconspirator become elected to head a city of terror survivors, the ‘most Jewish city in America,’ and how did he defeat an Italian-American political dynasty in what was once an Italian-American city? Because that New York City, the one people imagine from movies, no longer exists. In 1989, the last year of Mayor Ed Koch’s administration, Jews.. see full report

A grand concert harp has 47 strings, which is much like the richness of the whole counsel of God in Scripture. Paul preached and taught all the counsel of God (Ac. 20:26-27).
Evangelicals tend to have only one string on their doctrinal harps. They will take a stand for a few things, but not for the whole counsel of God. To stand for the whole counsel of God tends to cause division and thus hinders the focus on (and fund raising for) the one string.
There is the string of the family (Focus on the Family), pro life (Evangelicals for Life), creationism (Answers In Genesis, Institute for Creation Research), disaster relief (Samaritan’s Ministries), evangelism (Laurie, Palau, Graham), poverty (World Vision), campus ministries (Campus Crusade, Youth for Christ), complementarianism (Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood).. see full report

The following is excerpted from The History and Heritage of Fundamentalism and Fundamental Baptists, www.wayoflife.org -
The old fundamentalists and fundamental Baptists were warriors after the example of the apostle Paul.
His bodily presence might have been weak, as his enemies claimed (2 Co. 10:10). We don’t know and it doesn’t matter; he was large when it came to fighting for the truth. On the very first stop of his first historic missionary journey, he publicly called out a prominent member of the city of Salamis with these shocking words, “O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord,” and struck him with blindness for good measure (Ac. 13:10-11)! What a fireball! As for two preachers of that day, Hymenaeus and Alexander, Paul turned them over to.. see full report

Charles Spurgeon began pastoring the Metropolitan Tabernacle of London, England, in 1853 at age 19, and was the senior pastor until his death in 1892. His superlative preaching drew massive crowds, and the church grew from two to three hundred to a membership of over 5,300.
Spurgeon believed in a regenerate church membership and was very careful in this regard.
He didn’t give invitations to come forward after his sermons. Instead, he invited seekers to meet with him at his office on Monday morning. He wanted to .. see full report

Following are the testimonies of lawyers and judges in regard to the evidence of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is excerpted from An Unshakeable Faith: A Christian Apologetics Course, www.wayoflife.org:
Hugo Grotius (1583-1645) was a noted Dutch “jurist and scholar whose works are of fundamental importance in international law,” according to the Encyclopedia Britannica. He wrote Latin elegies at the age of eight and entered Leiden University at eleven. Considered “the father of international law,” he wrote The Truth of the Christian Religion (1627) in which he legally defended the historical fact of the Resurrection (cited from “The Evidence for the Resurrection of Jesus Christ - Part 2,” John Ankerberg Show, jashow.ca).
Thomas Sherlock (1678-1761) wasn’t a lawyer but he was trained in law. He was a Cambridge-educated theologian in the Church of England, and he wrote a classic.. see full report

I have been reading about the Dead Sea Scrolls for years, but my interest was piqued to a higher degree in 2010 after my first visit to two sites associated with them: the caves themselves and the museum at Qumran and the Shrine of the Book in Jerusalem where the first seven scrolls are housed.
The scrolls were discovered between 1947 and 1956 in 11 caves near the northwest shore of the Dead Sea, 13 miles southeast.. see full report
