Friday Church News Notes
COBB COUNTY, GEORGIA, A CASE STUDY IN THE PRIORITY OF CHURCHES OVER POLITICS (Friday Church News Notes, February 26, 2021, www.wayoflife.org, fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - Cobb County, Georgia, demonstrates that religion and morality are fundamental to politics and proves the necessity of focusing on the spiritual condition of the churches rather than on politics. Cobb County was ground center for the 2020 U.S. presidential election. It was Cobb County that threw the state to the Democrats in November and elected two Democrats to the Senate in January to guarantee Democratic control of Congress. Cobb County is Southern Baptist territory, and as the churches have, decade after decade.. Read More
21 Steps
21 Steps to a Stronger Church for the 21st Century - Feb. 24
In a time when the average Baptist church is getting steadily, shockingly weaker, more carnal, more worldly, moving farther down the contemporary path with each passing year, we are intent on moving in a much stronger direction, and we are thankful for the churches that we know of personally that are on the same path.
We have no intention of following the crowd, and we are not afraid of being in the minority.
The church we see in the New Testament is a church of born again disciples of Christ who are committed to serving Christ.
    We write about this in
21 Steps to a Stronger Church for the 21st Century. The book has two.. Read More
Looking for Biblical Evidence of Salvation - Feb. 23
“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves” (2 Co. 13:5).
To strive to maintain a regenerate membership is the most essential thing that churches must do to be stronger. In fact, if a church doesn’t strive for a regenerate church membership, it can’t rightly call itself a biblical church. If the members are not born again, they can’t possibly grow spiritually, can’t possibly live a separated pilgrim lifestyle, can’t possibly.. Read More

The following is excerpted from “Canadian Pastor,” NC Daily Gazette, Feb. 18, 2021:

“A Canadian pastor remains in prison after being arrested for violating a public health order which prohibits houses of worship from gathering at more than 15 percent capacity, and will not be released until he pledges to desist from preaching and having church services if freed, an act he refuses to agree to. The Age of the Celebrity - Feb. 18
The following is excerpted from Spiritual Safety in the Facebook Age, which is available from Way of Life Literature.

Celebrities are the gods and goddesses of the 20th and 21st centuries.
The age of the celebrity began with the moving picture industry. There were prominent people before then who drew the attention of the public--national and world leaders, the very wealthy, prominent criminals, and those who did special exploits, such as Nellie Bly, who traveled around the world in 72 days in 1889-90--but it was the moving picture industry that created the age of the celebrity. They were called “movie stars,” “movie queens,” and they..

Baptists of old loved to sing. Their songs and hymns were sacred in character and biblical in doctrine. They put entire sermons or Bible stories or histories of martyrdom into song. Some of their hymns had 45 stanzas!

King James Only - Feb. 16
There is a lot of debate and confusion surrounding the man-made term "King James Only." It has been popularized in recent years by men who claim they are concerned about a dangerous and cultic view of the King James Bible. Rarely do they carefully define the term, though, and as a result a wide variety of Bible-believing men are given a nebulously-defined label.
The term “King James Only” was invented by those who oppose the defense of the King James Bible and its underlying original language texts. It was intended to be a term of approbation, and it is usually defined in terms.. Read More

HOW THE LEFT IS STEALING AMERICANS’ HEARTS AND MINDS THROUGH PUBLIC EDUCATION (Friday Church News Notes, February 12, 2021, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - The following is excerpted from “How the Left Is Stealing,” Powerlineblog.com, Jan. 27, 2021: “Across the country, leftists in charge of public education are substituting indoctrination for learning. Facts and objective standards are out, liberal shibboleths are the order of the day. My state, Minnesota, exemplifies the trend. Under state law, the Department of Education promulgates standards and benchmarks for K-12 schools in a variety of disciplines. These standards are periodically revised , and this year the Social Studies standards are being rewritten. Under.. Read More
