In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, America Reads the Bible is an 84-hour marathon Bible reading livestreamed April 19-25 from the Museum of the Bible in Washington D.C.

The more than 475 Bible readers include Donald Trump (who read 2 Chronicles 7:14), Seventh-day Adventists (Ben and Candy Carson, Vic Van Schaik, Rick Remmers), Roman Catholics (e.g. Marco Rubio, Ron DeSantis, Greg Abbott, Kelsey Reinhardt, Allan Wright, Sam Brownback, Sean Duffy, Allan Wright, Patricia Heaton, Stephen Meyer), Mormons (e.g., Dallas Jenkins creator of The Chosen), prominent evangelicals (e.g., Franklin Graham, Tony Perkins, David Barton, Matt Chandler), female pastors (e.g., Paula White-Cain, Cyndy Mooring,), and female worship leaders (e.g., SarahBeth Smith, Kim Walker-Smith, Bethany Stephens). (Forty Democrat officeholders were invited to participate, but none accepted.) Catholic Book Publishing and CatholicVote are partnered with American Reads the Bible in this venture. Turning Point USA is represented by Lucas Miles.

The reading is from the King James Version Easy Read Bible.

Each day begins with a rock & roll worship service
, darkened building, spotlights on the worship band, pounding drums, wailing guitars, in clear disobedience to “be not conformed to this world.”

The marathon is organized by Christians Engaged which is headed by female preacher, Bunni Pounds. She called the event “the Body of Christ coming together in unity” (“Nearly 500 Leaders, Pastors to Join,” Christianity Daily, Apr. 21, 2026), obviously ignorant of the meaning of the body of Christ.

While this public reading of the Bible is a reminder of the Bible’s great influence in America, we must not forget that America is a nation that has turned its back on the Bible’s teaching. A large percentage of those who are participating in the Bible marathon are not born again by repentance and saving faith in Jesus Christ. A large percentage are followers of false Christianity.

America Reads the Bible is not a sign of true revival and will not produce true revival. It is just another one-world church building enterprise. The vast majority of Christianity in America is false Christianity, and that includes the vast majority of “evangelicalism,” which today is a wilderness of heresy and worldliness as described in 2 Timothy 4:3-4. (See Evangelicalism and the Great Apostasy for extensive documentation, available at the Books section of www.wayoflife.org.)

Ecumenical ventures are ventures in joining truth with error, and God hates it. “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?” (2 Corinthians 6:14). “Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way” (Psalm 119:128). “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful” (Psalm 1:1). “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them” (Romans 16:17).

Surely God says to America today what He said to apostate Israel of old, “But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or
that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth? Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee. When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers. Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit” (Psalm 50:16-19).

True biblical revival is described in James 1:21-26 and foul-mouthed Donald Trump needs to heed it: “Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.”

Sharing Policy: Much of our material is available for free, such as the hundreds of articles at the Way of Life web site. Other items we sell to help fund our expensive literature and foreign church planting ministries. Way of Life's content falls into two categories: sharable and non-sharable. Things that we encourage you to share include the audio sermons, O Timothy magazine, FBIS articles, and the free eVideos and free eBooks. You are welcome to make copies of these at your own expense and share them with friends and family. You may also post parts of reports and/or entire reports to websites, blogs, etc as long as you give proper credit (citation).
