Evangelicalism and the Great Apostasy. It begins with a study of a prominent Baptist church of the 18th century, pastored by John Rippon, that was at the forefront of biblical congregational singing and published the first influential Baptist hymnal. By comparing this church with Baptist churches of the 21st century, we can see how far the vast majority have removed from a truly biblical pattern. There is a practical study on Ephesians 5:19 and Colossians 3:16 as the model of exactly what God says we are to be doing. The power of rock to produce rebels and to build the one-world church has not lessened, but the warnings have nearly disappeared to the detriment of God’s work. Homes and churches that don’t give clear, effectual, and persistent warnings about rock music in all of its forms should not be surprised if their young people are worldly and tend toward New Evangelical and emerging church thinking.
