"Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power." Psalm 21:13
The following is from John Phillips’ commentary on Psalm 21:

Think of the way they crown an English king as an illustration of the crowning of the King of kings. After the king has been invested with the royal robe, after the orb has been delivered into his hands, after the ring has been placed on the fourth finger of his majesty’s right hand to symbolize the marriage of the king with his kingdom, after the scepter with the cross and the scepter with the dove have been delivered into the hands of the king—then they crown him. As soon as the crown is placed by the archbishop upon the king’s head the people in the abbey shout, "God save the king!" and they keep on shouting, "God save the king!" The peers and those officiating put on their coronets, the trumpets sound, the great guns at the Tower of London boom out so that all England knows that the new king is crowned. Then the king is presented with a copy of the Bible and is enthroned.

The princes and peers of the realm present their homage and swear their allegiance. Then, when the homage is ended, when the archbishop, the princes of the blood royal, and all the members of the nobility have solemnly touched the crown upon the head of the king and knelt down before him and sworn their fealty to their king—and after the choir has sung a selection of Scriptures, then the drums beat and the trumpets sound and the people shout again: "God save the king!" "Long live the king!" "May the king live forever." How long? Who could think of assigning a limit? As long as God wills! Loyalty declines to assign a limit.

What is mere symbolism with a human king is glorious truth with Heaven’s King: "May the King live forever!" As David put it: "He asked life of Thee, and Thou gavest it Him, even length of days for ever and ever.”

Everlasting, ennobling salvation! "His glory is great in Thy salvation: honour and majesty hast Thou laid upon him." Yes, and exciting salvation: "For Thou hast made him most blessed [happy] for ever: Thou has made him exceeding glad with Thy countenance.”

Not just life. Not just everlasting life. But life filled with honor, majesty, happiness, and bliss. Life on God’s terms! The years when Jesus reigns on this planet will be the most exciting years in all the history of mankind.

Sharing Policy: Much of our material is available for free, such as the hundreds of articles at the Way of Life web site. Other items we sell to help fund our expensive literature and foreign church planting ministries. Way of Life's content falls into two categories: sharable and non-sharable. Things that we encourage you to share include the audio sermons, O Timothy magazine, FBIS articles, and the free eVideos and free eBooks. You are welcome to make copies of these at your own expense and share them with friends and family. You may also post parts of reports and/or entire reports to websites, blogs, etc as long as you give proper credit (citation). A link to the original report is very much appreciated as the reports are frequently updated and/or expanded. Things we do not want copied and distributed are "Store" items like the Fundamental Baptist Digital Library, print editions of our books, electronic editions of the books that we sell, the videos that we sell, etc. The items have taken years to produce at enormous expense in time and money, and we use the income from sales to help fund the ministry. We trust that your Christian honesty will preserve the integrity of this policy. "For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward" (1 Timothy 5:18). Questions? support@wayoflife.org
