E. Stanley Jones (1884-1973) was a Methodist missionary to India who had a wide influence through his interfaith and socio-political work and writings. His 1925 book The Christian of the Indian Road sold more than one million copies. He has been widely quoted. As of 2018, three million copies of his books have been sold, and many of them are available on the Internet for free reading and distribution.

Jones was a theological liberal and a promoter of interfaith religious unity.

In
Mahatma Gandhi: An Interpretation, Methodist, Jones testified that he went to India to convert the heathen, but in the end the heathen conquered him. He became an idolizer of Mahatma Gandhi.

He merged Christianity with Hinduism and various false philosophies. He rejected the Bible as the divinely inspired Word of God. In
Christ and the Roundtable (1928), Jones wrote, “If verbal infallibility is insisted upon, then the certainty is very precarious” (p. 257). In his spiritual autobiography, Song of Accounts, Jones said, “We do not believe that the New Testament is the revelation of God--that would be the Word become printer’s ink” (p. 377).

He traded the true gospel of individual salvation of the soul through faith in the blood of Jesus Christ for the false social gospel which aims for the salvation of society.

He devoted himself to building a one world church and one world government, which is a preparation for the Antichrist.

In 1943, Jones delineated his concept of a World Church Union. By this plan there would be a World Assembly of the Church of Christ and each nation would have a national expression of this world body. The World Assembly would be made up of delegates from the national assemblies; and, “interpreting the mind of Christendom on world affairs ... would be listened to by the nations.” This sounds more like the harlot of Revelation than the apostolic church of the first century. Jones denounced capitalism and praised Russian communism. In his book
The Choice Before Us, Jones argued for the establishment of a “new economic order” on earth which would redistribute wealth along communist lines. Jones identified this communist world order with the kingdom of God. Jones wrote, “I had to go outside my native land to make a discovery of the kingdom of God. I found it ... in [Communist] Russia” (A Song of Ascents: A Spiritual Autobiography, pp. 148, 149).

Sharing Policy: Much of our material is available for free, such as the hundreds of articles at the Way of Life web site. Other items we sell to help fund our expensive literature and foreign church planting ministries. Way of Life's content falls into two categories: sharable and non-sharable. Things that we encourage you to share include the audio sermons, O Timothy magazine, FBIS articles, and the free eVideos and free eBooks. You are welcome to make copies of these at your own expense and share them with friends and family. You may also post parts of reports and/or entire reports to websites, blogs, etc as long as you give proper credit (citation). A link to the original report is very much appreciated as the reports are frequently updated and/or expanded. Things we do not want copied and distributed are "Store" items like the Fundamental Baptist Digital Library, print editions of our books, electronic editions of the books that we sell, the videos that we sell, etc. The items have taken years to produce at enormous expense in time and money, and we use the income from sales to help fund the ministry. We trust that your Christian honesty will preserve the integrity of this policy. "For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward" (1 Timothy 5:18). Questions? support@wayoflife.org
