Bible Course Information

Way of Life Literature publishes a complete Bible curricula for home schooling.

We can educate children and youth in Christian homes so that they would already have the equivalent of a a typical Bible college education by graduation from high school.

The heart and soul of the education is a personal, saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and surrender to pursuing God’s will. The students must have the fear of God. Otherwise, the education will be wasted on self.

One of the great errors of Bible-believing homes and churches today is the failure to disciple young people in a serious, effectual fashion. Young people are entertained or they are neglected, but rarely are they seriously discipled. But serious discipleship is effectual. God blesses it.

The home and the church are divinely created institutions that are designed to operate together. The church builds up the homes, and the homes build up the church.

The spiritual condition of the youth is a fundamental measure of the spiritual condition of a church.

Apart from salvation, nothing in life is more important than a strong knowledge of the Bible.
  • It is the only way to obey Christ’s command in Matthew 28:19, “teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.”
  • It is the only way to know God’s (Romans 12:1-2, being transformed by the renewing of the mind comes by an intimate relationship with God’s Word).
  • It is the only way to be prepared for the ministry. Every believer is a priest (1 Pe. 2:5), an ambassador (2 Co. 5:20), a minister in the body (Eph. 4:16), and has spiritual gifts (Ro. 12:3-8). These ministries require serious education, and that education is found in the Bible.
  • It is the only way to obey Colossians 1:28, “warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.”
  • It is the only way to obey Hebrews 5:12-14, that every child of God must be skillful in God’s Word, able to eat the meat and exercise their spiritual senses to discern good from evil.
  • It is the only way to have a prophetic mindset. Prophecy forms a large part of the Bible and a good understanding of prophecy is necessary for a proper Christian worldview. This begins with knowing that the next major event on God’s prophetic calendar is the Rapture of New Testament saints, which is imminent and must be expected at any time.
  • It is the only way to be protected from error. God’s people must know the truth and test everything by it. “they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so” (Ac. 17:11); “prove all things” (1 Th. 5:21).

God’s Word plainly instructs parents and churches to train up children and youth as disciples of Christ. Parents and pastors and youth workers should do a careful exegesis of the following Scriptures:

Genesis 18:19 - “For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.”

Deuteronomy 6:4-9 - “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God
is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.”

Psalm 34:11 - “Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.”

Proverbs 22:6 - “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Ecclesiastes 12:1 - “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them.”

Malachi 2:15 - “And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.”

John 21:15 - “He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.”

Ephesians 6:4 - “And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”

2 Timothy 2:22 - “Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”

2 Timothy 3:15-17 - “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture
is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”

Titus 2:3-5 - “The aged women likewise, that
they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

Titus 2:6 - “Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.”

The entire book of Proverbs is written, first and foremost, to disciple young people (Pr. 1:4, 8, 10; 2:1, etc.), and it is serious discipleship.

The teen years should be devoted to building a spiritual foundation for adulthood. This is exactly the opposite of the philosophy of the pop culture, which encourages the young person to waste his teen years by pursuing fun and frivolity, by taking education lightly, by selfishness, by rebellion, and by isolation from those who could help him the most (e.g., the generation gap).

I regret that I did not have this understanding very well when our own children were growing up, but by God’s grace I have learned much since then, and I am passionate about helping fathers be wiser than I was.

Review Questions and Tests

The review questions are designed to draw the student’s attention to the most important points of the lessons and to help him remember these after the course is finished. They are also designed to prepare the student for the tests. The student should first go through the review questions and try to answer them without the textbook. Afterward, he should go back and find the answers using the textbook. Finally, he should check his answers against the review question answer sheet.
The sectional tests are culled from the sectional review questions. This is a further step in focusing the student’s attention on the most important points of the course.
The final test is culled from the sectional tests.

Sharing Policy: Much of our material is available for free, such as the hundreds of articles at the Way of Life web site. Other items we sell to help fund our expensive literature and foreign church planting ministries. Way of Life's content falls into two categories: sharable and non-sharable. Things that we encourage you to share include the audio sermons, O Timothy magazine, FBIS articles, and the free eVideos and free eBooks. You are welcome to make copies of these at your own expense and share them with friends and family. You may also post parts of reports and/or entire reports to websites, blogs, etc as long as you give proper credit (citation). A link to the original report is very much appreciated as the reports are frequently updated and/or expanded. Things we do not want copied and distributed are "Store" items like the Fundamental Baptist Digital Library, print editions of our books, electronic editions of the books that we sell, the videos that we sell, etc. The items have taken years to produce at enormous expense in time and money, and we use the income from sales to help fund the ministry. We trust that your Christian honesty will preserve the integrity of this policy. "For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward" (1 Timothy 5:18). Questions? support@wayoflife.org
