SOUTHERN BAPTIST PASTOR PREACHES BIG BANG AND PRAISES CATHOLIC PRIEST (Friday Church News Notes, August 22, 2025, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - Southern Baptist Pastor Travis Collins, First Baptist Church, Huntsville, Alabama, recently preached the Big Bang and exalted a Catholic priest as a man of God. First Baptist is an evangelical megachurch that is a fulfillment of 2 Timothy 4:3-4, complete with lustful living, itching ear-scratching preachers, and fables. What could be more fabulous than the Big Bang, which says an explosion or super expansion of “an initial state of high density” produced the mind-bogglingly massive universe, chaos produced order, life sprang from non-life, and intelligence arose from non-intelligence? Following is an excerpt from the pulpit ministry of this prominent Southern Baptist church: “The late George Lemaître was a physicist, an astronomer, and a minister. He was a priest. He is credited with the Big Bang theory. He was a deeply devoted follower of Jesus and believed that creation began with a spark which spectacularly, breathtakingly, immediately began to spread. Lemaître said creation was like a burst of fireworks. There was a moment when there was no space, no matter, no time, no light, no energy. Then the next moment there was space and matter and energy and light and time, like a burst of fireworks. ... And there was one particular ball of gas that formed what we call home, planet earth. ... There are some who believe the earth is 6,000 years old. They are called young earth creationists. ... They read the first two chapters of Genesis very literally ... Young earth creationists have a wonderful motive. That is to protect the integrity of the Bible and to champion the trustworthiness and authority of the Bible. And I admire that motive.” CONCLUSION: Pastor Collins is speaking out of both sides of his mouth; he is a Mr. Facing Two Ways. If he really admires those who protect the integrity of the Bible he would not exalt George Lemaître, a man who did not hold the Bible as the infallible Word of God and was not afraid to contradict the Bible with science falsely so called. Lemaître (d. 1966) was a Catholic priest who believed baptism is the new birth, the host of the Mass is Jesus, and Mary is the Queen of Peace. He was a “follower of Jesus” only in the sense that he was follower of Rome’s false christ, false gospel, and false spirit. Lemaître believed that “the universe expanded from a single initial quantum, which he called the ‘primeval atom.’” When Lemaître was young, he tried to reconcile the Genesis account of creation with evolutionary science, but he gave that up as an impossible task. He was right to do so. Genesis cannot be reconciled with evolution. Pastor Collins claims that God used the Big Bang, but that is brash presumption. God has told us exactly how He made the world. The Bible uses poetic language in places and does sometimes speak of a “day” as a long period of time, but not in Genesis 1. The Bible plainly states that the days of creation were 24-hour days consisting of an evening and a morning (Ge. 1:5, 8, 13, 19, 23, 31). They are the same type of days as the sabbath day (Ex. 20:10-11). It is important to understand that evolution’s long ages are not supported by proven science but by evolutionary presuppositions. It’s not the Bible vs. science, but the Bible vs. science falsely so called. There are many scientific dating methods that point to a young earth. Further, life’s essential interconnectedness requires that creation occur quickly. Consider the carbon cycle, hydrologic cycle, nitrogen cycle, nutrient cycle, pollination, sexual reproduction, climate regulation, etc. The earth is an ultra-complex living system that could not possibly have originated gradually over billions of years. It had to happen in--well--in six days!

The book features a variety of types of puzzles that are entertaining while at the same time reminding or teaching through context the proper definition of Bible words. Entries are not limited to antiquated or obscure words, but also include words that are no longer used or may be more difficult for new readers. Included are words like: foreordained, pernicious, variableness, purloining, propitiation, abate, supplant, hewn, tenor, ligure, gerah, stacte, quick, bason, scapegoat, dispossess, amerce, and many more. The various puzzles include almost 1,700 words. NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE’S MALE CHEERLEADERS (Friday Church News Notes, August 22, 2025, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - In another mockery of God’s holy Word in “Christian America,” major league football has added male cheerleaders to its lascivious entertainment program. It’s not a brand new thing, but it is growing rapidly. In 2025, twelve National Football League teams will feature dancing boys in its lineup of half-naked dancing girls. According to Jesus Christ, this is not clean fun. It is adultery. It is pornography. “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart” (Matthew 5:27-28). How many pastors and Sunday School teachers and deacons can give a warning to the congregation about these things with a clean conscience?
BRAZILIAN FACING PRISON FOR MISGENDERING GRANTED ASYLUM IN EUROPE (Friday Church News Notes, August 22, 2025, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - The following is excerpted from “Brazilian,” The European Conservative, Aug. 7, 2025: “A Brazilian women’s rights activist has been granted full refugee status in an unnamed European country after facing criminal charges in Brazil for referring to a male-to-female transgender politician as a man. Isabella Cêpa, a social media commentator and feminist known for her advocacy against domestic violence, was facing up to 25 years in prison under Brazil’s ‘social racism’ law, a legal provision that treats alleged transphobic speech as a form of racial discrimination. ... The case has sparked global controversy over Brazil’s absurd application of anti-discrimination laws to suppress gender-critical opinions. Cêpa’s legal troubles began in early 2021, when she responded to media coverage celebrating São Paulo councillor Erika Hilton--a biological male who identifies as female--as the ‘most voted-for woman’ in Brazil. In a video post, Cêpa expressed her disappointment, saying she was ‘disappointed to hear that the most voted-for woman in São Paulo--later found out that it was in the entire country--was a man.’ Hilton filed a police complaint, triggering a criminal investigation. By mid-2022, Cêpa had been charged with five counts of ‘social racism.’” CONCLUDING COMMENT: Chief of the haters of free speech (the “cancel culture”) today are Marxists, Muslims, transsexualists, and homosexual activists such as those who try to shut down harmless florists and bakers.
CHRISTIAN DOCTOR LOSES LICENSE IN AUSTRALIA FOR SPEAKING AGAINST ABORTION, TRANS SURGERY (Friday Church News Notes, August 22, 2025, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - The following is excerpted from “Christian Doctor,” The European Conservative, Aug. 5, 2025: “Dr. Jereth Kok, a Melbourne general practitioner, has been found guilty of professional misconduct by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) over a series of social media posts spanning nearly a decade. His medical license, suspended in 2019, remains revoked after the tribunal ruled that his online commentary violated professional standards. The case against Dr. Kok originates from 54 social media posts in which he referred to abortion providers as ‘butchers’ and ‘serial contract killers.’ He described abortion as ‘massacres of babies’ and labeled the Royal Women’s Hospital as ‘Melbourne’s premier publicly-funded, baby killing facility.’ VCAT found that such language derogated medical professionals involved in abortions and breached ethical obligations. Dr. Kok, who shared many of his posts on Christian platforms, acknowledged that some of his wording was ‘discourteous’ but defended his right to express religious and moral beliefs. ‘I believe that aborting a baby is unjustly destroying the life of a vulnerable human, and can accurately be described as an act of killing,’ he told the tribunal. While he pledged to avoid similar language in the future, he maintained that his faith compelled him to speak out. The tribunal also scrutinized Dr. Kok’s comments on gender and sexuality, including his description of homosexuality as a disorder and sex change surgery as ‘medical butchery’ and ‘sterilising disfigurement to healthy young bodies.’ ... The case has sparked debate, with Dr. Kok’s supporters arguing that the ruling suppresses free speech. Family First national director Lyle Shelton condemned the decision as ‘a gross injustice and a chilling attack on freedom of speech,’ adding that Dr. Kok had harmed no patients and was penalized solely for expressing his views.”
THE “LORD WHO CARRIES OUT HIS MISSION” (Friday Church News Notes, August 22, 2025, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful” (1 Corinthians 4:2). “His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord” (Matthew 25:21). Beginning with the Han Dynasty (202 BC - AD 220), the Chinese sent ambassadors to the various parts of the Greco-Bactrian kingdom and beyond as far as Syria. The first was Zhang Qian in 138 BC. He was tasked with searching for allies. The party of 100 included a former slave who was captured as a child and could speak the language of the Xiongnu people to the west. The group was captured but were treated well. Zhang Qian was given a wife by whom he had a son. After 12 years, he and his wife and the former slave escaped, but instead of returning home Qian continued with his journey west. He discovered Bactria with its Greek script, coins, and culture, dating to Alexander the Great. He called the people of the Ferghana Valley the “Dayan” (“Great Ionians”). This was an ancient name for Greeks who lived on the Ionian coast of the Aegean Sea. He found out about people to the southeast of Bactria who used battle elephants in warfare. These are Indians who fought against Alexander. Qian arrived back in China after 13 years and was awarded with a high office. The slave was also honored with the title of “Lord Who Carries Out His Mission.” This is a little foretaste of how the Lord Jesus will reward His faithful servants when this present warring time is over. No one will regret being 100% for the Lord.
