Dr. Jerry Falwell in his March 1995 National Liberty Journal announced that Jim Combs is retiring as editor of the Baptist Bible Tribune effective May 31 to become Editor-in-Chief of National Liberty Journal (NLJ). Former Baptist Bible Fellowship president Dr. John Rawlings recently joined Liberty University's Center for Ministry Training. He will also work with the NLJ. ... An article in the NLJ promoted Billy Graham's "Global Mission" crusade and praised his "remarkable career" (Calvary Contender, March 15, 1995).
O Timothy Editor: I have been told that many BBF pastors in the West hope to see the BBF and its school in Springfield strengthened in regard to the King James Bible and biblical separation. Unless the men in control of the school and the paper see the compromise in the type of affiliation John Rawlings and James Combs are pursuing, and are willing to warn the churches of this type of thing, I personally have no hope for any significant change. What good does it do to have a solid position on the preservation of the Bible if we ignore what that Bible teaches on issues such as separation?
