We are pleased to announce the publication of a new multi-media video presentation titled Why We Hold to the King James Bible. There is much false information being published about the Bible version issue, and defenders of the King James Bible in general are being charged with being divisive and ignorant. This high-quality three-hour presentation covers five of the reasons why we are convinced that English-speaking people need to hold to the King James Bible in the face of the onslaught of the modern versions. A multiplicity of photographs of individuals, books, and other visual aids are professionally mixed into this high-quality presentation to illustrate the message.

I. THE KJV IS BASED ON THE PRESERVED GREEK NEW TESTAMENT. In our estimation, the first and foremost reason why we need to hold to the KJV is that it is based on the right Greek New Testament, whereas the modern versions are based upon a corrupted Greek New Testament that was fashioned in the 19th century out of unbelieving, humanistic principles. In this video presentation we help the viewer understand this matter by examining Four Periods of Church History: The Apostolic period, which was the era of the giving of the Bible; the 2nd and 3rd centuries, which was the era of the corruption of the Bible; the Dark Ages, which was the era of the persecution against the Bible; and the Reformation, which was the era of the printing of the Bible. We show that throughout this long period up to the late 1800s, God's people had confidence in the preserved Scriptures. Bible believers of that era were not trying to find the Scriptures; they were busy preaching the Scriptures to the ends of the earth!

II. THE MODERN VERSIONS ARE BASED ON THE CORRUPT THEORIES OF MODERN TEXTUAL CRITICISM. The modern Greek New Testament, to the contrary, was founded upon the principle that the Scriptures were not divinely preserved by God but were corrupted. According to modern textual criticism, a corruption of the New Testament somehow became the Bible of God's people around the 3rd century and it was that corruption that was spread throughout the world and used by God's people for 15 and more centuries until the end of the 1800s, when (allegedly) the pure New Testament was finally recovered through the theories of textual criticism. We give three reasons for rejecting modern textual criticism.

III. THE KJV IS DOCTRINALLY SUPERIOR TO THE MODERN VERSIONS. The third important reason for holding to the King James Bible, in our estimation, is that it is doctrinally pure as opposed to the corruption which is evident in the modern versions. This video presentation explodes the popular myth that no doctrine is affected by the various versions. We deal with this issue under five headings: (1) To change words is to change doctrine. We believe in verbal inspiration, not thought inspiration (Matt. 4:4; 1 Cor. 2:13). It is not enough to have a Bible that preserves pure doctrine in general. (2) The Unitarians understood the doctrinal nature of modern textual criticism. Several of the fathers of modern textual criticism were Christ-denying Unitarians, and they believed that the modern eclectic Greek New Testament better reflected their heretical doctrine than does the Received Text underlying the KJV. (3) The doctrine of individual passages is dramatically and unquestionably changed by the omissions within the modern versions. (4) Key doctrines are weakened in the modern versions. The doctrinal issue created by the modern versions is not so much the removal of doctrine, but the weakening of doctrine. We focus on the deity of Jesus Christ to demonstrate this important point. (5) Some doctrine is removed almost entirely in the modern versions. We use the doctrine of fasting to illustrate this.

IV. THE MODERN VERSIONS ARE BUILT ON A FOUNDATION OF DECEPTION. In this section we look at the history of the first modern English version, the English Revised Version of 1881. We see that the project was deliberately couched in language that would be acceptable to the majority who only wanted a minor revision, yet became a radical revision. We see that the translators were instructed not to change the text, yet they secretly replaced the Greek Received Text with the Westcott-Hort Greek text created by the principles of modern textual criticism. Many of the English revisers later criticized their own work!

V. THE KJV HAS AN UNMATCHED HERITAGE. In this final section we look at the Tyndale Bible that became the foundation of the King James Bible. We then look at the King James Bible itself and its incomparable translation methodology by a team of some 50 of England’s greatest Bible scholars.
