UNITING CHURCH IN AUSTRALIA APPROVES HOMOSEXUAL LEADERSHIP
February 7, 1996 (David W. Cloud, Fundamental Baptist Information Service, P.O. Box 610368, Port Huron, MI 48061-0368, fbns@wayoflife.org) - In October, the 500-member synod of the Uniting Church in South Australia rejected a proposal to put a moratorium on the appointment of homosexuals to positions of leadership (Australian Beacon, November 1995). The motion was brought about by the appointment earlier this year of Simon Moglia, a homosexual, to a position as a researcher in the Uniting Church head office. The Moderator of the Uniting Church in South Australia, Margaret Polkinghorne, said she was "very pleased and encouraged" by the decision. Moglia said homosexuals will gain hope from this action. This Editor says they are all nuts! The Bible cannot be changed by the vote of an apostate denomination. |
