PETER RUCKMAN'S PERFECT BIBLE
By David W. Cloud While I am grieved by Dr. Ruckman's ministry because his bitter spirit, his cultic attitude, his strange doctrines, his mocking attitude toward those who desire to uphold God's standards for the pastor, and his lying mouth, I am not grieved by his perfect Bible. The man is fighting for biblical authority in an hour in which the Word of God is typically thought of as something which exists somewhere, somehow, sometime, but not precisely anywhere now. Dr. Ruckman claims he has a perfect Bible in the King James Version. He says this is his sole authority. That's commendable. He's a man with an Authority in an hour in which every man does that which seems right in his own eyes. He encourages God's people to have perfect confidence in the honorable Authorized English Bible. Of the students in his school he says, "I taught them the Book. I taught them the Book was the `final authority in ALL matters of faith and practice,' and that since it was `quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword' they could use it to critique any scholar at any time. I taught them that no professor, no scholar, no school, no seminary, no linguist, no university was EQUAL to the Book, let alone superior to it. ... I taught them that if a man makes his living USING a Book he does not believe, while deceiving his supporters into thinking he believes it, he is an APOSTATE FUNDAMENTALIST: in short, a liar, a fraud, and a hypocrite" (The Full Cup, p. 233). This we do not criticize. |
