April 24, 1996 (Fundamental Baptist Information Service, P.O. Box 610368, Port Huron, MI 48061-0368, fbns@wayoflife.org) - A news item came forth some months ago from Battle Creek, Michigan, relating that eighty ministers from the area were planning to attend the PK Clergy Conference. The pastors were coming from a variety of churches-United Methodist, Wesleyan, Regular Baptist, Bible churches, Presbyterian USA, Catholic, Free Methodist, Church of God, Missionary Baptist, Baptist General Conference, Evangelical Friends, Christian Reformed, and independent groups! They were going to travel and stay together, 'trusting God to give us a vision to win Battle Creek together.' The groups mentioned in this news item included churches that believe salvation is by works and others who say it is by grace alone. Which message will be used "to win Battle Creek together?" A later news item had a picture of these clergymen who had journeyed together to the PK conference. How tragic it is to see professing Fundamentalists in the same picture with liberal and Roman Catholic clergy who preach and teach salvation by works (Gil Rugh, Promise Keepers and the Rising Tide of Ecumenism, Indian Hills Community Church, 1000 South 84th St., Lincoln, Nebraska 68510-4499).
